Kuala Lumpur, 24 May 2012 – The ability to prepare creative, healthy meals certainly paid-off for Zeiti Zulhani, 33 and her son Ahmad Danish Dzulkarnain, 7 who emerged as winners of the Dumex Chef Cilik Komplete Nutri (Chef Cilik) reality cooking competition to take home RM20,000 in cash and new-found knowledge on complete nutrition.
Acknowledging that all mothers want the best for their children, a delighted Zeiti said that one way to do this is preparing dishes that are tasty and high in nutritional value. “It was exciting for my son and me to be involved in Chef Cilik as the competition gave us the opportunity to learn more about preparing healthy, tasty meals while further strengthening our bond as mother and child.”
The first runner-up, comprising the mother and daughter team, Afiza Aksan, 38 and Zaireen Sofea, 8 won RM15,000 while brother and sister duo, Syed Mohamad Afiq, 18 and Saiyedah Aminna, 9 came third to take home RM10,000.
A collaboration between Danone Dumex (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and Astro Ria, the 13-episode Chef Cilik saw 27 teams attempt to create a range of tasty and nutritious meals for growing-up children based on weekly pre-determined themes. It was then over to judges, restaurateur and freelance chef, Chef Andri; Dumex nutritionist, Puan Nor’azah Mohd Sidi; and guest celebrities, to judge the dishes on creativity, teamwork and most importantly, conformity with the Dumex Komplete Nutri plate, a portion plate based on the food pyramid, designed exclusively for growing-up children by Dumex Dugro. Hosted by actress Vanidah Imran, Chef Cilik debuted on 13 February 2012 and the finale was held on 13 May 2012.
Speaking at the prize presentation ceremony, Ms Toni Brendish, Managing Director of Danone Dumex (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, said that Chef Cilik was developed with the objective of spreading the importance of complete nutrition. “As a brand with a 54-year heritage, we know that good nutrition and a balanced diet is the foundation of a healthy life. We also know that children look at their parents as role models. Through Chef Cilik, we want families to adopt healthier eating habits by sharing with participants and the programme’s audience, simple and nutritious ways to prepare meals. We also want to emphasise that there does not need to be a trade-off between taste and nutrition.

Given the success this time, we have decided to further spread the message of complete nutrition with Season Two and we hope Malaysians will continue supporting Chef Cilik.”
